Wood Thread Insert Nut
Wood threaded insert nuts, also called threaded inserts, are metal bushings with internal threads that screw into pre-drilled holes in the wood. External protrusions embedded in the nut bite into the wood, providing firm support and preventing the nut from turning or pulling out. Insert nuts are commonly used in the furniture industry to assemble and connect components.
Insert nuts are similar to wall anchors, with the internal threads providing stability to the bolt and the external threads providing clamping force to the object. They are effective fasteners and can be used to reinforce or repair existing threads.
To install a threaded insert, drill the hole to the specified size and screw the insert into place using a bolt and lock nut, a hex wrench, or an optional drive tool.
A threaded insert, also called a threaded bushing, is a fastener that is inserted into an object to form a threaded hole. They can be used for:
Create durable threaded holes in soft materials
Attaching wires to material that is too thin
Molding or casting threads into the workpiece
Change from Uniform to Metric Threads
Connect two or more objects
To install, drill a pilot hole and screw in the insert. Some inserts can be installed using a flat-blade screwdriver, but most require a special pilot screwdriver to prevent them from slipping. Threaded inserts work best when installed internally or with textured surfaces.
Threaded inserts are efficient fasteners that insert a screw or bolt and then remove them for reuse. They are popular in assembled furniture and are often used in cabinets, outdoor furniture, display cases, shelves and weatherproof blinds.
