Threaded Wood Inserts

Things to note when using threaded wood inserts

Threaded inserts are suitable for aluminum, plastic and other softer materials.

Unless they have a special coating, they are not strong enough to effectively secure stainless steel components.

Most have a hex insert on the top that can be inserted into the wood with a hex wrench.

If you do use threaded inserts, you can cap the ends of the insert to protect the internal threads from the epoxy.

For applications where the clamping action tends to pull the insert out of the wood, drill a hole that engages only the barbed tip of the insert and hold it in place with epoxy.
